Seek and Delight
Psalm 37:4, NKJV, Delight yourself also in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Hey parents, I have some good news for you! I know how trying it can be raising a family during these ever-changing times. We need way more help than ever before, with the information highway increasing exponentially. Making decisions for our family many times has to be done in a split second. Like I said, I have some good news for you!
We are not alone. I was reading in Judges chapters 6 and 7 about Gideon. He was a normal guy just threshing some wheat in a hiding place because he was afraid of the Midianites coming and destroying his crop. An angel appears to him and gives him a message. You may know the rest of the story of how he brought 30,000 men together for an army and God dwindled it down to 300. With that 300 men, God gave specific instructions for each. Get a trumpet, get a pot, put a light under it, stand on the ridge of the valley… the results? God defeated an army so big they couldn’t even count the camels and described the men as, “like locusts.” The Midianites had gathered multiple armies from other countries and brought them together in one valley. This was a very bad military decision! So, for God to know that if they were surprised they would fight each other, and for Gideon to use trumpets and pots with lamps underneath them for the surprise, proves that God is the God of SUPERNATURAL wisdom and knowledge.
This same story is repeated many different ways all throughout the Bible. Some examples: the story of the woman at the well, Lazarus and his sisters, Samson and the foxes tails, on and on it goes! Every story having the same theme! We are not God and when we seek Him and delight ourselves in Him, we will get the same results. God will come through!
Psalm 37:4, NKJV, Delight yourself also in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of your heart. The word delight in this verse basically means realizing that everything is God’s and when you give it over to Him and take your hands off, whatever IT is, God can move, whether through you or others to see things come to pass. It’s like, your child coming to you and saying they are hungry and you letting them have free rein of the kitchen. They may come back with a bowl of Gummy Bears and Oreo ice cream. Not your choice for sure. We would not allow our children to knowingly make bad decisions, and neither would God. We do not know what is ahead of us, but God does, and the Holy Ghost will guide and direct us, if we hand it over to Him. Matthew 6:33 says, basically the same thing. When we hand it to God in prayer and take our hands off, God will make a way.
Now back to the good news and Gideon. We are no different than Gideon, he thought he was the lowest of the land and the least likely to succeed, BUT God! You may be thinking that same thing in raising your family, someone else could do a better job. But that would be wrong, God gave YOU those children and the anointing to raise them for His glory. Your job is to delight yourself in Him and seek first His kingdom and HE will bring it to pass. My encouragement to you is to let go and let God! Realize that God will, through the Holy Ghost, give you divine instruction, divine wisdom and divine power to accomplish what He has directed you to do.
And now, just imagine yourself like Gideon sitting on that ridge, and because of God’s hand of intervention, watching all those soldiers fighting each other doing what you thought you would have to do yourself and laughing at the whole scene. Then raising your hands and glorifying a Mighty and Holy God. And by the way, how did they get 300 trumpets anyway? So, just remember, give it to God by seeking and delighting in Father God!
