Why Church? Part I

Hebrews 10:25, NKJV, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much more as you see the Day approach.

The church is an important community that is needed for families to grow in the things of God. It’s also a place where you bring YOUR supply of worship, prayer and presence to each service. Believe it or not, others are touched by your hunger and desire to grow in the things of God. It’s NOT ALL ABOUT YOU! Families serving God together, is God’s Best! The bible says in Hebrews 10:25, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much more as you see the Day approach. We encourage and sharpen one another when we come together for worship and the preaching from the word of God. The bible also says we should be planted in the house of the Lord. Psalm 92:13-14, says, Those that are planted do flourish, and continue to bear fruit in old age! The fivefold ministry as mentioned in Ephesians 4:11-14, that Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers, have a purpose. So that the body of Christ grows up to be mature, and not stay as baby Christians. These all working together, help to keep you grounded so you’re not blown about by every wind of doctrine. God has a special will, plan and purpose for you, and it will become clearer to you as you plug in to God’s house, the church. It’s important to pray and ask God where your church home is. When he directs you and you find the church that he has led you to, it will “feel like home,” then plant yourself there.

Children are little people. Just like adults, they are a spirit, they have a soul and they live in a body.  They are fearfully and wonderfully made by God, according to Psalm 139:14. And they need the word of God at an early age, just as adults need the word of God to bring change and to train them up. Proverbs 22:6, says to train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Your desire is for the children God has entrusted to you, to grow up well balanced. You want them to have Godly character instilled in them, and mentors who will watch over their souls. First and most important is raising them with biblical values at home, but close behind in importance is regular church attendance in a church that teaches the entire Holy Bible. This is the kind of influence your children need. They have more than enough of the influences of the world bombarding them every day. This will give them God’s perspective, instead of the world’s perspective! They need to start with the basics of a Heavenly Father who loves them unconditionally! Catch Part II of “Why Church”, because I believe you want to steward your children well!
